Difficult thoughts do not keep business hours, and neither does support. The hours after midnight can feel especially isolating, when it seems as though the whole world is asleep and there is nowhere to turn. That feeling, while understandable, is not accurate. This is a good habit to build, even during periods that feel relatively steady.

Lifeline answers calls every hour of every day, including the middle of the night, on 13 11 14. The Suicide Call Back Service is also available around the clock on 1300 659 467, offering someone to talk to no matter what time it is. It is reasonable to expect this to take a little time to feel natural.

If three in the morning has felt like the loneliest hour before, know that help is genuinely available then too, on 13 11 14 or 1300 659 467. This is worth revisiting regularly, rather than treating it as a single, one off effort. Genuine effort here tends to matter more than getting every detail right.
