Help Is There for People Supporting Someone Else Too
Launch library · evergreen read

Supporting someone else through a hard time can take a genuine toll, and it is easy to focus entirely on the person being supported while forgetting that the supporter also needs care. Support services are available for this role too. Taking this step does not commit anyone to a particular outcome, only to honesty.
Beyond Blue and Lifeline both offer guidance and support specifically for people caring for someone experiencing mental health difficulties, recognising that this is a genuinely demanding role that deserves its own attention. This is worth doing even when it feels awkward or uncertain at first.
Beyond Blue is available on 1300 22 4636, and Lifeline is available to anyone, including supporters, at any hour on 13 11 14. Many people look back and see this kind of moment as more significant than it felt at the time. It is never too late to try this, even if the moment has already passed once before.
