A difficult period can leave a lingering sense of not trusting your own judgement or resilience, even once circumstances begin to improve. Rebuilding this trust tends to happen gradually, through small, repeated proof that you can manage what comes your way. This kind of attention rarely goes to waste, even when its impact is not immediately visible.

Each small commitment kept, each difficult moment navigated, adds a little evidence back into that internal account. This process rarely feels dramatic while it is happening, but the accumulated effect over time can be considerable. A willingness to try, even imperfectly, tends to count for a great deal here.

If trust in yourself feels hard to rebuild alone, support can help. Beyond Blue is available on 1300 22 4636, and Lifeline can be reached at any hour on 13 11 14. This is worth doing regardless of how the other person responds at first.
