Honouring Progress However Small It Seems

It is easy to dismiss small progress as not really counting, especially when compared to how far there still is to go. Yet these small shifts, a better night's sleep, a difficult phone call finally made, are genuine evidence of movement. This is worth doing even in small, imperfect ways, rather than not at all.

Honouring this kind of progress does not mean pretending everything is resolved. It means allowing yourself to notice and acknowledge it honestly, rather than only measuring against an imagined finish line that keeps things feeling perpetually unfinished. It is fair to expect this to feel a little easier each time it happens.

If progress feels hard to notice on your own, talking it through with someone can help. Beyond Blue is available on 1300 22 4636, and Lifeline can be reached at any hour on 13 11 14. This kind of care tends to leave a lasting impression, even in a brief exchange.
